Genus - Bellis

Bellis is also called English Daisy or common daisy. It consists of 15 species native to Europe and Africa. The name Bellis in Latin means pretty. Interestingly. the word daisy is derived by "days eye" in reference to the flower petals closing at night. Bellis spreads by sending out rhizomes.

Culture - Full to part sun sitings. Remove spent flowers before they go to seed to encourage a much longer bloom period. This procedure is called deadheading.
